Reflections from PMWC 2026: Company showcase presentation and more

I presented OmicXScreen, our AI/ML-driven, DNA multi-omics disease-diagnostics platform, at the AI and Data Sciences Company Showcase during PMWC 2026. The conference gave a clear technical pulse on the industry, especially across the AI and Precision Diagnostics tracks.

A few observations stood out, and each reinforces the development path we're already on at OmicXHealth:

  1. The shift to whole-genome approaches. In the Precision Diagnostics track, consensus moved decisively toward whole genome sequencing over legacy targeted assays. Proteomics and transcriptomics still hold niche utility, but DNA methylation and fragmentomics are now the established gold standards for scalable, commercial early-stage cancer detection — which validates the architecture we've built our platform on.

  2. MRD detection is splitting into tissue-agnostic and tissue-aware camps. Tissue-aware tests offer high sensitivity by tracking patient-specific mutations, but tissue-agnostic approaches — using broad panels to detect ctDNA without a primary tumor biopsy — offer a more accessible, faster clinical workflow. We're positioned to lean into those broad-signal advantages for next-generation screening.

  3. Foundation models and digital twins were everywhere in the AI track, particularly their combination for accelerating drug discovery and clinical trial modeling. Within five years, we expect a shift toward multi-disease detection assays built on top of these genomic foundation models — and we're preparing for that transition by making sure our training datasets and markers can fine-tune them, sharpening our diagnostic outputs.

  4. The final day zoomed out to the infrastructure of future biology: Greg Brockman and Vinod Khosla on where AI is headed, and Anne Wojcicki with Nobel laureate W. E. Moerner on the new biological measurements AI analysis will need to be meaningful.

  5. Across the vendor floor, the throughline was clear — the industry is moving toward high-fidelity, high-throughput data. At OmicXHealth, we stay focused on the operational reality of turning that into validated, early-stage detection.

Great conference, and a good gut check that we're building in the right direction.
